  3. Don’t listen to bunk about special IRS programs, like “Pennies on the Dollar.”
  4. Ask them about their experience, a charlatan with not have time to speak with you candidly.
  5. Stay away from 800 numbers, go local.
  6. Ask what they will do for you, a sign that something is wrong is just hearing “Don’t worry, everything is fine.”
  7. Ask them what sort of defenses you may have, a real Tax Attorney with be able to discuss this with you.
  8. Ask for a description of the IRS Controversy process.
  9. Ask them if bankruptcy is an option. Charlatans will not know the criteria for tax bankruptcy.
  10. Get  a retainer agreement.
